3. Biodata:
Haji Khairo Jan, son of Haji Wali Jan, was born in 1956 in the village of Lal Beg in Tirin Kot district of Uruzgan province. In 1977, he began his career as an entrepreneur. Sen. Haji Khairo Jan has been an activist for peace. He has undertaken the Hajj pilgrimage twice. He participated in a globalization workshop in Dubai and participated in a conference in Tehran. Haji Khairo Jan was indirectly elected to the Meshrano Jirga in the 2005 provincial council elections in Uruzgan.

The former senator Khairo Jan, a tribal elder named Sharafuddin, and two of the senator's bodyguards were killed by a IED blast in Tarin Kowt, the Capital city of Uruzgan Province, on 20120324 at around 1:30pm local time. The bomb is understood to have been a remote-controlled roadside bomb, he said. Khairo Jan was an elder of President Karzai's  Popalzai tribe.

He is married and has 12 children.
