Prince Shuja-ul Mulk Jalala Shujaul Mulk Jalala Shula ul Malik is the son of Mehtarjao ‘Abdu’l Rahman Khan, of Jalala. He emigrated to Afghanistan after the murder of his brothers 1892. Shuja ul-Mulk Jalala was born 1952 in Kunar Province.
Shujaul Mulk Jalala also known as Ghulam Rasul is the great grandson of Amanul Mulk II, one of the most powerful Mehtars of Chitral in the late 19th century. When due to some dispute, his forefathers were exiled to Afghanistan, the then rulers in Kabul settled the family at Jalala in Kunar. Since then they have been living in Kunar, playing an effective role in the politics of the troubled country.
It has to be noted that due to its geographical proximity, people of Chitral (Pakistan) and Kunar (Afghanistan) have long been interacting with each other in different fields. Before the construction of the Lowari Tunnel, Chitralis used the Kunar route via the Nawa pass to travel to and from other parts of the country in winters. The influential Katur family of Chitral settled in Jalala area of the Kunar province always worked to ensure that the people of Chitral sued the route in winter without being harmed. His Highness Mehtar Fateh-ul-Mulk Ali Nasir is the current titular and ceremonial Mehtar of Chitral (Pakistan).
Jajala was an independent MNA. Mulk bagged 3rd most votes in Kunar Province during 2005 Wolesi Jirga Election. Later he was an Presidential advisor on tribal affairs (20110908) He was an aide to Sibghatullah Mujaddedi's Milli Nijat jihadi faction also.Members of a probe team met relatives of the civilians killed during an airstrike in the Shegal district of eastern Kunar province. President Karzai directed a high-level delegation, led by his advisor Shujaul Mulk Jalala, to visit the area, investigate the raid and convey his condolences to the bereaved families.(20130214)
President Hamid Karzai’s advisor Shujaul Mulk Jalala was appointed as new governor of eastern Kunar province on 20130715. He received ongratulations from his Chitrali relatives:
"This noble son of the House of Katur has brought his tribe and his ancestral home, Chitral, much glory." (20130706)
He replaces Syed Fazlullah Wahidi, who was transferred to western Herat province last week.
He also heads Jalala Foundation, a public welfare organisation.
