3.Biodata:
Haron Amin was born 19. June 1969 and raised in Kabul. Haroun Amin participated in anti-Soviet demonstrations following the 1979 invasion of Afghanistan. He left the country with his family the following year and settled in California. In 1995 he earned a Bachelor's Degree in political science at USC, Riverside, C.A. He also holds a master’s degree in political science from New York’s St. John’s University
After pursuing higher education, Amin then joined the Foreign Service in Afghanistan· working in various capacities including the Chief of Staff to the Minister’s Office until the fall of Kabul· to the Taliban in 1996. With the launch of the United National Islamic Front for Salvation of Afghanistan in early 1997, Mazar was chosen as the new Afghan capital and Amin became the Chief of Staff for the newly-appointed Prime Minister, Abdul Rahim Ghafoorzai in August.
After the fall of Kabul to the Taliban, Amin came back to the US to represent Massoud's forces, the Northern Alliance (aka United Front) and also to be the representative of the exiled (but recognized) government of Afghanistan at the United Nations. He was instrumental in keeping Afghanistan's seat at the UN out of the hands of the Taliban. At the time of the Sept. 11 attacks, Amin was a diplomat to the United Nations serving Afghanistan’s interests.
In 2001, after the assassination of Massoud and the September 11 attack, Amin became to the US media, the official spokesman for the in-exile Afghan government. Following the establishment of the transitional Afghan government (under Hamid Karzai) in 2002, Amin was appointed charge d' affaires/deputy chief of mission at the Afghan embassy in Washington, D.C. In December 2003, he was appointed to the post of Afghanistan's Ambassador to Japan.
Afghan attorney general officials said they are going to investigate regarding the expenditure of $9 million for the renovation of Afghanistan embassy in Japan, which was done while Haroon Amin was the Ambassador.(20121019)
Currently, while Amin has retired from the Afghan Diplomatic Service, he remains involved in current affairs by providing advice and counsel to diplomatic and private sector representatives, in quest for deep insights into past circumstances, current challenges and future dynamics of the economic, political, security and social conditions of Afghanistan. He also serves as the President of Resources & Solutions LLC and Managing Partner of ARG.(20120530)
