Head of Kabul’s 119 Police Department:
Humayoun Aini resigned (20171121)

Background:
Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Tuesday, Nov 20, 2017 has started investigations into corruption allegations against the head of Kabul’s 119 Police Department Humayoun Aini and also a probe into Aini’s allegations against the ministry itself. (20171120) A source from the interior ministry meanwhile said $50 million USD has been spent on the 119 department so far and that when Aini asked for $2 million USD to upgrade software the acting minister said he would approve the request after an assessment was carried out. The source said before this could be done, Aini resigned.
