Fazel Karim Mahmoodi, son of Muhammad Nabi, was born in 1954 in the district of Kang in Nimroz province. He entered primary school in Kandahar in 1961, and completed his secondary education in Nimroz. In 1975, he was admitted to the Faculty of Literature of Kabul University. In 1978, he received a bachelor's degree in Pashto. Sen. Mahmoodi worked as teacher for one year after graduation. In 1980, due to the state of political and social conditions, he fled to Iran where he lived as a refugee for 15 years. He returned to Afghanistan in 1994 and was appointed as a teacher in Farkhi High School and later to the Teacher Training Institute of Zaranj. He established some courses and the “Avaiy-e- Zarang (The Sound of Zaranj) Cultural Association. After the fall of the Taliban, he officially registered the Association and served as a member of its leadership council. He is a member of the Editorial Committee of “Saday-e-Nimroz (The Voice of Nimroz)” and “Nedai Jawan.” He was indirectly elected to the Meshrano Jirga through Provincial Council elections.
He is married and has eight children. Mahmoodi speaks Dari, Pashto and Balochi.- Last modified:
