Kohistani_QurbanHaji Qurban Kohistani, son of Ewaz, was born in 1961, in Lal War Sar Jangal district, Ghor province. Kohistani finished his primary and secondary education at the Najaf High School in Iraq in 1977. Kohistani worked as a businessman, importing and exporting rugs and production materials throughout Asia.

Kohistani won a seat in parliament in 2005 with 10,440 votes. During this term, he served as deputy chair of the Commission for Internal Affairs.
