- History and Biodata:
Sultan Ghiyasuddin Ghori Airport in Ghor Province was originally established in 1967 (1346 AH) with a 700-meter unpaved airstrip designed for small aircraft. It was extended to 2,000 meters in 1973 (1352 AH), and in 2011 (1390 AH), the entire 2,000-meter runway was asphalted. Reconstruction work has commenced over 800 meters of the runway at Sultan Ghiyasuddin Ghori Airport in Ghor Province. The project involves repairing an 820-meter-long, 30-meter-wide section of the runway. The work, funded by the ministry’s development budget, is estimated to cost 86 million Afghanis.
Due to significant deterioration, the airport’s runway had been causing operational difficulties for aircraft. (20260225)
