Mrs. Mahbuba Elham Maqsoodi was born 1957 in a village in Herat Province. She was one from seven daughters. She studied Chemistry and Biology and worked as a teacher in Herat City. 1979 she got married to her art teacher, Fazl Maqsoodi. In the 80th she studied Art at the Academy W.L. Muchina in St. Petersburg, Russia. 1994 she and her family were granted political asylum in Munich, Germany. Since 1996 she works as an artist in Germany.
