Sanjar Sohail is the chief editor of the Kabul based independent secular daily (Dari) newspaper Hasht-e-Sobh ( “8 am”) in Afghanistan. Hasht-e-Sobh has a circulation of 20.000. Sanjar Sohail said, the momentum building for protests among the youth in Afghanistan does pose a threat to the government. "The government feels very vulnerable because of its failure to meet even the basic needs of the people and its involvement in corruption and other wrongdoings," he said. Sohail also said that even though Afghans have not yet gone out on the streets, the debate continues on how to organize peaceful and nonviolent protests. (20110331).
