Haji Toordi Akhond, son of Haji Hattah Beg, was born in 1961 in the village of Pamir Kalan in the Wakhan district of Badakhshan province. He received a private education and is familiar with animal husbandry. Akhund is from the Kighiz minority in the Wakkan corridor in the province of Badakhshan, a mountainous area with little or no agriculture.. Akhon is a recipient of the Emergency Loya Jirga medal. He was appointed to the Meshrano Jirga by the President of Afghanistan.
He is married and has 10 children.
