Mrs. Robina Jalali Muqimyar Rubina Royena Jalali was born July 03, 1986 in Kabul. Jalali is one of nine children (seven girls and two boys). Her father Haji Jamaluddin was a businessman in the computer industry who now runs a non-profit company that teaches Afghan women how to sew. Jalali was home schooled during the era of the Taliban when schooling for girls was forbidden. At 16 she attended school after the Taliban wer ousted 2001. Her Mother Mahbubah runs a beauty parlour in Kabul City. The familiy lives in Shar-e-Naw in Kabul. Robina has worked at the Kabul Bank. Mrs. Jalali, with the support of her family, trained as a sprinter and, after the Taliban fell, followed her dream to the Olympics. She finished second-to-last in the 100 metres in Athens in 2004 and last in Beijing in 2008.
Jalali was running for a seat in the Wolesi Jirga in 2010 elections. With her high cheekbones and large dark eyes, Jalali has gained as much attention for the heavily made-up glamour shots on her campaign posters as for her athletic prowess. Her bid for office has been criticised by an unlikely source: women who complain that she is an opportunist with an inadequate résumé.
Robina received 1,529 votes in 2018 Wolesi Jirga election and got a seat in WJ 2018.
As a result of a general poll by the ANAF, Robina Jalali succeeded with majority votes to become the head of the federation for a period of 4 years.
In a poll conducted Thursday Jan 8. 2020 to elect the head of ANAF, Robina Jalali was the absolute winner enjoying all 30 votes.
