Hemati_ShanazMrs. Shahnaz Hemati Shanaz Hemmati is the daughter of Ali Aqa and was born 1978 in Herat City, Herat Province. Hemati graduated from Mahjuba Herawi High School in Herat in 1996. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies from the International University of Al-Azhar, Iran, in 2002. Having lived in Iran during the war, Hemati returned to Afghanistan in 2002 and worked as a teacher in the Mahjube Herawi High School from 2002 to 2005.

Hemati was an independent 2005 MNA and an assistant in the Committee on woman affairs. She close to Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.

Hemati has connections with organizations working for women and children in Herat. She is also a member of the board of founders of a private university in the province.

Commission (2012): Transport, Telecommunications, Urban and Housing Affairs, Water and Power Supply and Municipal Affairs.

Shahnaz Hemmati died of critical wounds in her head and chest stemmed of a road accident with another head-on city-bus in the Iranian capital, Tehran, her relatives said (20130603).
 

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs on 20131019 introduced eight individuals to Wolesi Jirga to replace seven members standing down in the run up to the April 5, 2014 elections and one deceased female lawmaker.They replaced resigning MPs including Syed Ishaq Gillani, Syed Hussain Anwari, Abdul Rab Rassoul Sayyaf, Mohammad Mohaqqiq, Shah Abdul Ahad Afzali, Syed Hussain Alami Balkhi, Ibrahim Qasmi and deceased female lawmaker from western Herat, Shehnaz Himmati, who has  died in a road crash in neighbouring Iran.(20131019)

 

Hemati was married and has one son.
 

She speaks Dari, English and Arabic.
