Background Millat Steel Factory:
An iron-smelting plant has been opened in Kabul as part of efforts to get Afghanistan towards achieving self-sufficiency, a local source reported on Monday, March 25, 2024. The plant, which is located in the Bagrami district of Kabul, has created employment opportunities for approximately 700 individuals.

 Naqibullah Nazari, the factory manager, asked the Islamic Emirate to also increase the import tariff on steel rods. The Union of Iron Smelting Factories reported that Afghanistan now boasts 42 operational steel production plants, with an estimated $500 million invested in the industry.
Established in 2022, Milat Steel is emerging as a key player in Afghanistan’s industrial sector, contributing to both the local economy and employment. Milat Steel is one of the most standard and biggest factories in Afghanistan in the sector of iron smelting, which is presided by Samiullah Fahim Group of Companies.

The activities of Milat Steel are as below:
• Manufacture of Reinforcement grade 60 and 75 from size 8 to 32 mm according to ASTM A615 and other similar international standards.
• Manufacture of billets according to the grades of Reinforcement produced by this factory and customers' request
• Delivering services for determining the type and chemical composition of metals and mechanical tests of materials with modern equipment.
