Mrs. Dr. Najia Tareq is gynecologist with years of experience in public health. She is successful, result driven and resourceful individual with over 15 years of experience in Health Systems and playing a key role on the quality, Tareq leads International Rescue Committee (IRC) mobile medical units that provide healthcare to remote areas of Afghanistan that often lack basic infrastructure. After completing his training as a doctor, Dr. Najia was determined to take big strides in her career.

Before joining the IRC, he served as a maternity hospital director, then worked for the Ministry of Public Health for years, traveling to remote provinces where there were often no roads or bridges and few hospitals.
In the last twelve months, the IRC has doubled its commitment to the Afghan people. Our staff, 99 percent of whom are Afghans, currently operates in 12 provinces. They provide vital health care, education and support for women and girls in communities where we develop deep relationships with community leaders. At the same time, our teams tirelessly advocated for the inclusion of women in the humanitarian response, and the IRC has recruited a staff of 40% Afghan women.
