Prince Sardar Mohammad Nadir Naeem Nader Naim was born 1965 in Afghanistan. He is a member of the former ruling Barakzai dynasty. He was the grandson of then King Mohammed Zahir Shah. Following the 1973 coup d'état, where Mohammed Daoud Khan overthrew the monarchy, Naeem moved to the United Kingdom. He returned to Afghanistan following the 2001 invasion and the fall of the Taliban government.He announced his candidacy in October 2013 to stand candidate in the 2014 Presidential elections. His running mates are Taj Mohammad Akbar and Azizullah Puya. Following his return to Afghanistan he worked as a secretary to his grandfather, Mohammed Zahir Shah. Princes Maryam Naeem’s son Nader Naeem said that his mother (85) died on Saturday in Kabul and buried before noon on Sunday in Kabul’s Maranjan Hill. Princess Mariam was the second daughter of Afghanistan's last King, Mohammed Zahir Shah, who ruled Afghanistan for around 40 years.(20211226)
On October 6, Prince Nadir announced his candidacy for the 2014 Afghan presidential elections. He nominated as his First vice president, Faiz Mohammad Daqiq and Second vice president, Qadam Ali Khadim. However he and his running mates were among the 16 Candidates who had been eliminated by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on 20131022.
