farhang_drDr. Mir Mohammad Amin Farhang son of Mir Mohammad Sediq Farhang was born in an educated family in Kabul in the year 1940. He hails from Shar-i-Naw, which is a Tajik District. He graduated from Esteqlal High School in 1959 and earned Bachelors degree in economics from Kabul University. He earned Masters Degree from Köln University in Germany. He also earned the Doctorate degree in Economical Development from the same university. From 1974 to 1978 he was a professor in Economics Faculty of Kabul University and the Director of National Economy Institute. In 1978 he was imprisoned in Pul-e-Charkhi Jail and in 1982 after he was freed went to Germany. In Germany he served as a professor in Ruhr University, and was the coordinator of Afghanistan's Archive in the named University. After the fall of Taliban regime he was appointed as the Minister of Reconstruction on December 22nd, 2001. He has many economic, social and Political articles in Afghan and International publications.

German publication Spiegel Weekly reports that the Afghan Public Prosecution Department would ask Germany to hand over to Afghanistan former Minister for Commerce Mohamad Amin Farhang who is accused of embezzling US$ 23 million during his tenure. Farhang is accused of submitting $19 million in inflated bills for imported fuel oil Public Prosecution Department says a commission is to be set up to investigate corruption cases attributed to Amin Farhang and Hamidullah Qadri. (20100315) Farhang is accused of overcharging the Afghan government $19.5 million on 19 fuel contracts he signed with various nations, including Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, according to Nazari. Invoices prove the bills the former minister submitted to the Afghan government exceeded the amount paid for the fuel, the deputy prosecutor said.(20101106)

 

Amin Farhang is facing prosecution over graft charges and misuse of power. (20141021)  Ex Foreign trade minister Muhammad Amin Farhang, however, rejected the accusations as baseless, saying the Attorney General’s claims had political motive. Farhang added once he was accused of corruption about four years ago but he proved the accusations as baseless and still he was ready to fight against the accusation.(20141025)

 

Mohammad Amin Farhag, former minister of commerce and industries, will be trialled by anti-corruption court, a source in the Supreme Court said. According to the source, the trial of Farhang will be held soon. The minister is accused of corruption and misuse of authority, said Jamshed Rasooli, a spokesman for Attorney General’s Office. He said that investigation of the official had been completed and that his dossier had been sent to the special court.(20190203)

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to former commerce minister Mohammad Seddiq Farhang, who is accused of corruption, summoning him to the court within 20 days, otherwise, a trial will be held in his absence.(20210103)

A special court has sentenced former Commerce and Industries minister Mir Mohammad Amin Farhang to one year in prison and fined him $864.000. “No wrongdoing or violations occurred,” said defense lawyer Jabber Ahmad Ahmadi. (20210223)
