Senior Economic Advisor to the President
Ajmal Ahmady is the Senior Economic Advisor to President Ashraf Ghani. He has a MBA from Harvard Business School, a Master of Economics and Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a Bachelors in Mathematics and Economics from UCLA. He previously spent eight years in the asset management industry investing in global macro, emerging markets, and corporate strategies for some of the largest asset managers in the world. He has also worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, the World Bank, an EM private equity group, the US Treasury Department and the Afghan Ministry of Finance.

Mohammad Isa Mayar
Analyst
Mayar is a sector analysts with five years of experience local companies and GoIRA entities. He obtained his Master degree in International Development Program (IDP) from Japan, with BA Economics (National Economics) from Balkh University. He has potential in local governance sector analysts, Revenue collections, and research with in depth knowledge of service sector of Afghanistan.

He has 4 years of working experience at top multinational organizations. He worked as project manager at DFID’s GEC-T project in Kabul. He also has the experience of working at BRAC international, USAID and Etisalat and worked at various development programs in Bangladesh, India and Afghanistan. Furthermore, he is an advisor to university institute (an American Institute in Delhi) since 2017.

Mohammad Asghar is Translator at the Office of Senior Economic Adviser to the President Ashraf Ghani. He has LLB degree from Kardan University. He has worked in different National and International Organizations for around 16 years, started from French NGO MADERA, later with International Development Law Organization (An Italian inter-governmental organization), DPK- Rule of Law Stabilization Projects (USAID funded projects), Agricultural Development Fund (USAID funded project), Afghanistan Justice Support Program (INL- US Secretariat of State funded project), and finally Office of Senior Economic Advisor of the President.

Abdul Wahid Behsoodi is working as an Economist with Senior Economic Advisor to the President of Afghanistan. He has MA in Economics (Gold Medalist) and bachelor’s degree in BBA from Goa University. He has worked with Asian Development Bank as a National Social and Economic Development Consultant in Supporting Increased Transport Sector Governance project, Ministry of Public Works. Tufan Naimi is working as Translator at the office of Senior Economic Adviser to H.E, President. His responsibilities are included; translating the high economic council (HEC) related documents, translating laws, procedures, provisions and other documents as directed. He is doing his MBA in Kardan University. He has obtained his bachelor degree from Kabul University. She holds over three years of professional and volunteer experience. Sara is also among the recipients of theWomen2Women Scholarship, a short-term leadership training program in the United States. In addition, she is the founder of the Harvard Case Study Club at AUAF and co-founder of the AGLP and YWLP leadership initiatives for Afghan girls.

The Office of Economic Advisor to the President of Afghanistan, an independent department, is charged with offering the President objective economic advises on the formulation of both domestic and international economic policies. The office of Economic Advisor bases its recommendations and analysis on economic research and empirical evidence, using the best data available to support the President in setting our nation's economic policy. The department is currently comprised of a Senior Economic Advisor, and supported by staff of professional economists, project and research analysts.The core function is to provide objective empirical research for the President on matters related to economic growth, policy research, and organizational assessments. This includes analysis on fiscal matters, balance of payment issues, trade, restructuring of state owned enterprises, and organizational assessments of ministries.
