Ajmal Ahmady
Senior Economic Advisor to the President
Ajmal Ahmady is the Senior Economic Advisor to President Ashraf Ghani. He has a MBA from Harvard Business School, a Master of Economics and Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a Bachelors in Mathematics and Economics from UCLA. He previously spent eight years in the asset management industry investing in global macro, emerging markets, and corporate strategies for some of the largest asset managers in the world. He has also worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, the World Bank, an EM private equity group, the US Treasury Department and the Afghan Ministry of Finance.

Mohammad Isa Mayar

Background:
The Office of Economic Advisor to the President of Afghanistan, an independent department, is charged with offering the President objective economic advises on the formulation of both domestic and international economic policies. The office of Economic Advisor bases its recommendations and analysis on economic research and empirical evidence, using the best data available to support the President in setting our nation's economic policy. The department is currently comprised of a Senior Economic Advisor, and supported by staff of professional economists, project and research analysts.The core function is to provide objective empirical research for the President on matters related to economic growth, policy research, and organizational assessments. This includes analysis on fiscal matters, balance of payment issues, trade, restructuring of state owned enterprises, and organizational assessments of ministries.
