3. Biodata:
Afsar Rahbeen in 1989, the National Security Directorate sent him to prison for writing a few pieces of poetry, which had not even been published. For the simple act of writing poetry, he spent time in the infamous Pul-e Charkhi prison of Kabul. Rahbeen is a well-known poet, writer, translator and a cultural figure who has worked as cultural attaché to Afghan embassies in Iran and India. Mohammad Afsar Rahbin was the Cultural Director of the Ministry of Information and Culture. He has written 12 books, both poetry and literature. He is the first Dari-speaking Afghan poet to have written poems in Urdu. "Ghazaltar”, an album representing a collaboration between Iranian tar player Mehdi Fallah-Safa and Afghan artist Mohammad Afsar Rahbeen, has recently been released in Tehran. The album was unveiled during a ceremony at the 30th Tehran International Book Fair.The album features poem recitations by Rahbin, who was also Afghanistan’s cultural attaché in Tehran, from the Divan of Hafez and improvisations by Fallah-Safa.(20170507)
