Gunmen loyal to Ghulam Nabi hurled a hand grenade into the house of Mullah Faizullah, killing two people and injuring six others, including two women, in the Garziwan district of Faryab.
District chief Abdul Razzaq Kakar linked the clash to an old enmity and political rivalry between Faizullah, a commander of Junbish-i-Mili Party, and Ghulam Nabi Shuja of the Jamiat-i-Islami in Zang valley.(20150902)

Public uprising Jamiat-e-Islami Commander Ghulam Nabi Shuja,  from Garzewan District, Faryab Province, has joined the Taliban taking with him at least between 50 and 100 of his fighters, local officials confirmed on Tuesday Mar 20, 2018.
Mohammad Naeem Andarabi, police security chief in the province, confirmed the report and said the commander joined Taliban ranks because of personal disputes in the district.
The reason Shuja for crossing sides was that the Faryab authorities have not investigated the murder of four of his fighters in the Dar-e-Zang village of Garzewan district. Shuja claims that Mullah Faizullah, the acting district governor, was involved in the murder of his men. But Faizullah rejected the claims and said Shuja has been affiliated to the Taliban for quite some time.
The Taliban meanwhile confirmed Shuja’s move in a statement. Jamiat-e-Islami party has not commented on the incident.
Local officials meanwhile said that Shuja’s move had resulted in three villages, including Dar-e-Zang and Dar-e-Shakh, in the Garzewan district falling to the Taliban.(20180320)
