Dr. Bashir Mohabbat was born in Kabul, Afghanistan on October 26, 1956.
He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Nagoya’s Chukyo University in 1982, an M.A. in International Law from Meijo University in Nagoya in 1985.
Upon graduation, Mohabbat taught International Relations, Central Asian History and Culture, and English at a number of universities in and around Nagoya between 1986 and 1990.
Dr. Mohabbat left the academic sector for a period of five years as from 1990 to 1995, he served as the Sales Manager at a Japanese automotive company based in California.
In 1996, he returned to the teaching, lecturing on the aforementioned subjects at multiple universities and colleges in Nagoya. During this same period, he also served as an official translator for the prefectural police departments of Aichi, Mie, and Gifu prefectures in Dari, Pashto, and English. He served in these roles up until 2002.
2007 he received his Ph.D in International Law from Nihon University’s Tokyo Campus.
Mohabbat is fluent in Pashto, Dari, Japanese, and English. Currently, he is also studying Chinese and Spanish.
He is married with one daughter.
