Behishti_FakuriSayyad Mohammad Jamal Fakori Fakuri Behishti was born 1964 in Waras District, Bamian Province. Behishti completed his early education in Islamic religious studies in private institutions in Afghanistan. He then studied Arabic Literature and earned the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in a religious school in Bamyan in 2001. Currently he is in second year of studying political science at the Khatamulnabeen University of Kabul.

During the jihad, Behishti was a member of the Itefaq Council which was led by his father, Ayatullah Behishti, from 1979 to 1989. This Council then became part of Hezb-e-Wahdat Islami Afghanistan and he was member of party’s central council from 1989 through 2000.

Behishti is the head of an NGO called Civilization Development, established in 2002, that is currently active in Kabul and Bamyan. It works to promote human rights, and helped to raise awareness about the elections.

Behishti was elected to parliament in 2005 with 12,767 votes, coming in second in the province. During that term, he was a member of the commission for Defense and Territorial Affairs. He bagged 2nd most votes in Bamian Province during 2005 and 2010 Wolesi Jirga Elections. He claims to be an independent MNA.

Behishti is well-known in Bamyan province for his conservative religious views. Since 2000, Behishti has been an independent public figure. He participated in the Emergency Loya Jirga in 2002, and later represented Bamyan province in the Constitutional Loya Jirga in 2003.

A bomb was put under a bridge and appeared to target the car of lawmaker Fakuri Behishti, who is from the central Bamiyan Province. The attack took place in Kabul's Dashti Barchi district. Behishti was traveling to parliament when the explosion occurred. He was injured and his son was reportedly also badly injured.(20161228)

Fakori Beheshti got 9,021 votes in Wolesi Jirga elections 2018 and received a seat in WJ 2018.(20181125)
