3. Biodata:
Sham Lal Bathija was born 1948 in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan. His family has lived in Kandahar city for more than 350 years . He completed his higher education in the field of economy and law in India. Shamlal Batija is a Afghan Hindu and a Senior Economic Advisor to the President and a well-known senior economist at the regional and international levels. The advisor has sufficient information and experience in economic development and regional cooperation.(20100830). Karzai appointed Batija as his economic advisor through a decree some days back but he assumed his job 20100830, according to the statement from the presidential spokesman's office. Sham Lall Bathija is also a senior Afghan diplomat who specializes in economy and has good knowledge of economic affairs in developing countries. Sham Lal Bathija became Afghanistan's first Hindu ambassador. The 66-year-old former United Nations technocrat and was a senior aide to Afghan President Hamid Karzai .

 

He has worked in various international organizations including the United Nations and has resided in United States of America.

Sham Lal Bathijais married to Dr. Heli Bathija (born 22 June 1952 in Paattinen, Finland). The couple two sons and one daughter Tarun, Duran and Annuka Bathija.
