Abdul Rahman Zahed was detained at Dubai airport 20150910. The fate of the Zahid was unclear since then. It was said Abdul Rahman Zahid was deported to Afghanistan but it was unclear if he was deported as a Taliban prisoner or an ordinary Afghan. There was no confirmation of the arrest of Zahid by the Taliban. Like other Taliban leader, Zahid also went into hiding after US attack on Afghanistan started business. He has assets in Dubai and Pakistan. He was said to be among the rivals of new Taliban amir Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansoor.(20150917)
Zahid was not directly involved in the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan but had contacts with the group’s political office in Qatar and some other Taliban commanders in Pakistan. UAE government has said that Zahid, who also had international links, might have held meetings without prior permission.(20151020)
There are unconfirmed rumors surrounding Zahid: Allegedly created an impression that he entered Pakistan after the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, but had returned before the end of 2001 to his home village in Loghar province. Reported to be a leader in the Taliban's Quetta Shura. Reported captured in late February 2010.

The UAE government had detained Abdul Rahman Zahid in Sep, who was deputy foreign minister during the Taliban regime. Now UAE authorities released Zahid and he is currently staying in Dubai. Zahid had been detained due to „misunderstanding“ and the UAE government had apologised to Zahid over his detention and allowed him to stay in Dubai. Meanwhile it is said Abdul Rahman Zahid was expected to play his role in the second round of talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government which is expected to take place Jan 2016 in Pakistan.(20151231)
