Mullah Abdul Razzaq Akhond Mullah Abdul Razzaq Mullah Abdul Razaq Akhund Mullah Abdul Razaq Akhund born 1958 is an Achakzai Pashtun and hails from Kandahar. Rumors say he comes from Achakzai family of Jalaludin village, Spin Boldak District, Kandahar Province and that in fact is is a Pakistani national. His family was living in Peshawar, Pakistan. During Taliban time he was the Minister of Interior of Afghanistan. Involved in drug trafficking.  Believed to be in Afghanistan/Pakistan border area.
Former Army Chief Mullah Abdul Ghafoor commonly known as Mullah Burjan had a soft corner for late Dr Najibullah. In 1996, he made efforts to provide protection to Dr Najibullah who took refuge in the United Nations compound. However, Mullah Burjan was later murdered reportedly for his intention to provide protection to Najibullah.
This resulted in serious differences amongst the Taliban administration.  Later, late Mullah Rabbani and sitting Interior Minister Mullah Abdul Razzaq were tipped to have some role in the murder of Mullah Burjan. However, Taliban soldiers loyal to Mullah Burjan later poisoned Mullah Rabbani to death while Mullah Abdul Razzaq is still facing life threats.

The insiders informed that Mullah Abdul Razzaq was deprived of his power regarding postings and transfers of Governors. Likewise, Mullah Abdul Razzaq was also deprived of his other powers by Mullah Mohammad Hassan and Maulvi Kabeer, who are considered most confidants of Mullah Omar. 

Ex President Karzai said, "As an Afghan, I call on Mullah Mohammad Omar Akhund, Mullah Brother and Mullah Abdul Razaq Akhund to give up fighting, return home and play role in reconstruction of Afghanistan."(20080917)


Former HPC Secretary Masoom Stanikzai, met in China on May 20, 2015 with Mullah Abdul Razzaq Mullah Abdul Razaq Akhond, who represented the Quetta Shura; former deputy minister of foreign affairs under the Taliban regime, Mullah Jalil; and Hasan Rehmani Mullah Mohammad Hassan Rahmani the Taliban's former governor of Kandahar and an official of ISI.(20150525)
