Ahmad Syedi is an Afghan author and well known political analyst. He was named as the first vice-president by Daud Sultanzoi for 2014 presidential election.

Ahmad Saeedi said about Karzai and his strategy: The stances taken or remarks made by President Karzai, his security advisor or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs change with the season; we cannot consider them to be reflective of strategic policy. Afghan officials adopt such stances or make such remarks as a special tactic, dictated by certain individuals for some specific purpose. President Karzai’s relations with the West have become fragile, so he tries to have close relations with the neighboring countries, Iran and Pakistan, to frighten the West to some extent. President Karzai wants to warn the West that he will turn to Iran and Pakistan if he is pressured by the West. But adopting such a position is a temporary measure, and driven by specific aims. These are not strategic or logical policies. For instance, President Karzai sometimes calls his opponents “my brothers” and at other times calls them terrorists. I think Spanta chose his position on orders from above. (20100912)

Saeedi on the Attorney General's activities concerning fight against corruption: "I believe that Attorney General's Office is in haste and has no idea where to start and where to end. They just perform political acting to pretend they are seriously fighting against corruption." (2011033)

Ahmad Saeedi said all active insurgent groups in Afghanistan are being trained, equipped and inspired by one single source: ISI, Pakistan's intelligence agency.(20130216)

"All the selected IEC people have very close ties to President Karzai. He never selects people who are not affiliated to him," said Ahmad Saeedi.(20130729)

The attack was carried out in Charahi Hajji Yaqub area, Shahr-e-Naw, Kabul. A clean-shaven young man in a suit on a motorcycle aiming a gun with a silencer at him. The man shot Saeedi twice in the face. He survived but his hearing and sight were damaged. Speaking later, a day after his return to Kabul from India, where he had undergone surgery and skin transplants, he said: “I was shot less than 100 metres from the ministry of interior. Nobody targeted me but the government.” (20151124)
