3. Biodata Jaland Abdullah Sarhadi:
At the beginning of March 2007 Pakistani security forces raided at the Gul Park Hotel in Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province, Pakistan  and arrested Amir Khan Haqani, commander of Zabul province in Afghanistan, and Jaland Abdullah Sarhadi of Kandahar. Sarhadi had been detained for more than three years in Guantanamo Bay after the fall of the Taliban regime in 2001. He was released by U.S. authorities in 2005. He and his family are living in Pakistan.

It is widely believed among the Taliban rank and file that it was the information extracted from these two men that led to the capture of Mullah Obaidullah, the former Taliban defense minister and close confidante of Taliban leader Mullah Omar on 20070303. A surprising and sudden wave of raids and arrests by Pakistani security forces on militant bases and hide-outs in 2007 came around the same time as Sen. Carl Levin, the Democrat who served as chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, was calling for direct U.S. military intervention against al-Qaida and Taliban sanctuaries inside Pakistan.
