kohistani_tahminaTahmina Kohistani was born 18 June 1989 in Afghanistan. She is an Afghan runner at 100 metres. Kohistani competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London representing Afghanistan where she made a new personal best of 14.42 seconds in the Preliminaries of the 100 metres distance. Her previous personal best at the 100 metres was 15.00 blank at a competition in Bydgoszcz, Poland in 2008.

She and her family had been living in Pakistan to escape the hardships of the regime, but her extended family was not so lucky. Her aunts were forced to abandon their education while at least ten of her relatives were killed. Her family moved back to Kabul just a month after the Taliban was toppled in 2001.

A six-member Afghan team which includes Rohullah Nikpa and Nisar Ahmad Bahawi in taekwondo, Masoud Azizi and Tahmina Kohistani the only female in running, Aimal Faisal and Ajmal Faizi Zada in boxing and judo represented Afghanistan in the London 2012 Olympic Games.
