Bari Salam,  said access to information was a democratic right of every citizen. He said in a democratic society the citizens enjoyed freedom of speech and access to facts. "Coverage of facts should be carried out for public information and to let the people make right decisions," he commented. However, he said a ban on media coverage and publishing information would be legitimate when it put at risk public interest. "Unfortunately interpretation of words could not be done precisely in Afghanistan," he added. Salam said the risk could only be a reason for the ban on information which could disturb the operation and supports opposition forces.(20100303).

He will speak on behalf of Afghanistan civil society organisations at the second Bonn Conference, which is scheduled for December 5 in Germany.(20111123)
