Narkh District Nerkh District Chief:
Mohammad Hanif Hanifi (20110605, 20120528) survived a roadside bomb attack, but two of his bodyguards were injured (20110926)

 

District Police Chief:

At least four Afghan police officers have been killed and 17 people injured by a suicide truck bomber in eastern Afghanistan. District police chief Abdul Ghafour was among those injured on 20131202.



Background:

Narkh is a district of about 480 square kilometres in the east of Wardak Province, Afghanistan. Its population was estimated at 57,000 in 2002, consisting of about 99% Pashtuns, 0 % Tajiks and 1% Hazara. The district centre is Kane Ezzat. During the presidency of Mohammed Daoud Khan in the 1970s, Narkh District was planted with many fruit trees; however, these have since dried up in droughts.

Insurgents took control of Nirkh district headquarters on Tuesday May 11, 2021.
