Mullah Ahmed Manzoor Maulvi was born 1969 in Kandahar Province. He was the Afghan sports minister until shortly before the Taliban were ousted in 2001.

He is said to be among the leaders of a group holding three United Nations workers, including Annetta Flanigan from Northern Ireland, as hostages in Afghanistan (20041107).The extremist faction known as the Jaish-e Muslimeen, or "Army of God", has threatened to kill the hostages if its demands for Taliban prisoners to be freed from Guantanamo Bay, the United States' prison in Cuba, are not met.

The former Afghan Taliban leader Manzoor was attacked by some unidentified gunmen (20110303) when he came out of his home in village Killi Rozdin located near Chaman town. Later, the assailants managed to escape. Local administration reached the site and shifted the injured to Civil Hospital Chaman.
