3. Biodata
Mrs. Sharifa Zormati Sharifa Zurmati Wardak was born 1967 (other sources say 1969) in Zurmat District, Paktia Province 1967. She studied literature at the Kabul University. Her earlier Journalist and broadcasting career ended when the Taliban seized Kabul and banned most women from working. She worked as a spokesperson and reporter for radio programs of Internews, a reporter and producer at Radio Parwana, a member of the Institute for Media, Policy and Civil Socie-ty (IMPACS), a reporter and presenter for the Morning and Evening radio programs, and a reporter and presenter at National Radio Television Afghanistan. She has also worked as a reporter for Deutsche Welle (DW).

Zurmati participated in the Tokyo Conference as a representative of civil society organizations. He has been a member of the traditional Afghan Loya Jirga as well as a member and facilitator of the Peace Consultative Loya Jirga. Mrs. Zurmati has the membership the Advisory Board of the Federation of Civil Society Institutions, the Afghan Coordination Against Corruption (AFCAC), the Advocacy Group for Women in Free and Fair Election Forum of Afghanistan (FEFA) and the Advisory Board of the Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan (NAI), in her career.

Sharifa Zurmati was a member of the committee on communications, transportation, urban, housing and municipalities in Wolesi Jirga 2005. She represented Paktia, a conservative Pashtun constituency in the southeastern part of the country bordering Pakistan where many women never step out of their homes for any reason whatsoever. She does not travel without a male escort.

She had just started working as an advisor to the Minister of Women Affairs. She is also seen as close to the palace.
