3. Biodata:
Maula Abdul Hafiz Zahir, son of Abdul Rasul, was born in 1968 in the Warsej district of Takhar province. He received a private education in religious studies and Arabic in 1973. In 1988, he traveled to Pakistan to continue his religious education and Arabic studies, and he received a baccalaureate degree from Karachi, Pakistan. His specialization is Islamic jurisprudence. From 1991 to 1993, he directed social affairs for Islamic students in Karachi, and in 1994 he was a member of research board of Dar-ul-Ulum Karachi. In 2000, he taught at Jamea Sharia in Karachi. Upon returning to his homeland in 2001, he served as judge in a military court for the northern zone, a post he held until 2005. For his active participation in the Judges' Seminar in 2004, he received certificates of appreciation. Zahir has written articles entitled “Utter Prayers In Accordance with the Sunnah,” “Osama Bin Zaid - One of the Heroes of Islamic History,” “Ismaili Beliefs and Thoughts,” and others. Zahir has traveled to Saudi Arabia for the Haj pilgrimage. He was indirectly elected to the Meshrano Jirga through the 2005 Provincial Council election in Takhar.

He is married and has two sons and one daughter. He speaks Dari and Arabic.
