Wahidi_FazlullahAlhaj Sayed Fazlullah Wahidi is a Pashtun and was born 1951 in Surkh Rod District of Nangarhar Province. He has an BA in Eeducation from Kabul University 1979 and completed a short course 1992 at The University of Kiel (German Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, CAU). Wahidi is a member of the Afghan Mellat Party (Ahady). During the jihad period, Wahidi was associated with National Islamic Front, headed by Pir Sayed Ahmad Gilani. His family reportedly lives in Australia.


Wahidi to Killid: "Mr. Popal and I were working together in NGOs and he appointed me. I have no party background not did any leader recommend my name for governorship," Wahidi told Killid. Abdul Malik Sediqi, the IDLG financial and administrative deputy says Wahidi was the candidate of IDLG. He was working for ANCB, the Afghan NGO Cooridnating Body earlier. Wahidi said he survived an armed attack on the Kunar-Jalalabad highway on Monday (20101220).

Wahidi survived a rocket attack on 20110317 at his car traveling in a convoy in Shigal district, Kunar Province. Wahidi on 20120304 escaped unhurt in a gun attack on his vehicle in Kunar Province.

Wahidi, the newly appointed governor for western province of Herat accused the neighboring countries of interference into the province.  During a speech, he outlawed pressures from the civil society groups on the government. He sought cooperation with the government agencies.(20130704)

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has dismissed Fazlullah Wahidi as governor for western Herat province of Afghanistan. The decision was taken following a report indicating rampant violence,(20141224)


Wahidi is fluent in Dari, Pashtu and English.
