3.Biodata
Taheri_Ahmad_WahidAhmad Khan Wahid Tahiri Waheed Ahmad Wahid Tahiri was born 1976 in Herat Province. He was a member of the Committee on Interior Affairs and national Security in Wolesi Jirga 2005. Ahmad Wahid Taheri is the brother of former foreign minister Dr Rangin Dafar-Spanta (2010 head of the Afghan National Security Council).

Wahid Tahiri ran for a seat in the Wolesi Jirga from Herat Province in the 2005 elections; he won 7,868 votes in the Province and came in 11th place out of 17 winning candidates. In 2008 Wahid Tahiri was one of the leaders of a threatened boycott of the Wolesi Jirga by a collection of MPs from Herat Province who were dismayed with the deterioration of security in the Province, especially highlighting the surge in violent crime and banditry. During the 2009 Presidential Campaign Wahid Tahiri worked as Karzai's Campaign Manager in Herat, which indicates the close relationship he has with the President.

Wahid Tahiri ran for reelection to his seat in the 2010 elections and was initially declared a winner after collecting 6,291 votes. However, shortly after the election he was one of the many candidates who were disqualified under allegations of fraud by the Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC). Wahid Tahiri protested his disqualification, claiming that the Independent Electoral Commission and the ECC had not followed the proper procedure and had no evidence to disqualify him, and that it was part of a plot to defame the candidates.

President Hamid Karzai has sent a list of 17 disgruntled candidates from 2010 election to the election commission to be seated. Wolesi Jirga after a special court disqualified 62 sitting MPs (20110706). The list includes Hamidullah Tokhi and Mohammad Ismail from Zabul, Ahmad Khan Samangani from Samangan, Aziz Ahmad Naadem, Ahmad Waheed Tahiri, Rahima Jamiand Nisar Ahmad Faizi Ghoryani from Herat, Niaz Mohammad Amir Lalai and Hashmatullah Khalil Karzai from Kandahar, Haji Muallim Mir Wali from Helmand, Wahidullah Kaleemzai from Maiodan Wardak, Mohammad Rahim Katawzai and Mahmood Khan Sulaimankhel from Paktika, Saranwal Abdul Rauf from Badakhshan, Ashiqullah Wafa and Mohammad Nasdeem Mudabbir from Baghlan. They are all staunch followers of President Karzai.

In January 2011 Wahid Tahiri was linked to the reportedly illegitimate arrest and detention of Asadullah Wahidi, the editor-in-chief of Sarnawisht, a Afghan daily newspaper. According to Wahidi, his detention was ordered by Dr. Rangin Dadfar-Spanta (National Security Adviser NSC), Tahiri's brother, after the journalist had published an article that accused Tahriri of commanding an illegal armed group in Herat Province. Tahiri insisted that the Sarnawisht article was false.

In a decree President Karzai appointed Ahmad Wahid Tahiri as his advisor on social affairs in the southwestern region.(20120919)
