Malalai Shinwari was born 1976 in Kabul. A former journalist and BBC Reporter, she was in charge of the society of female candidates for the parliamentary elections (2005) said, she believes women who are running as independent candidates face threats and lack of resources. Shinwari ranked first in votes (2005) among female MNA candidates in Kabul. She has been an advocate for the rights of women in Afghanistan. Malalai Shinwari was a Karzai supporter. She read out a declaration in the name of a few other female MNAs. The members congratulated Karzai for his election as president for the second term of five years. The declaration demanded of the president to fulfill his promises made during his election campaign (20091108).
