Background:
400 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers 20100506 completed a five week training program and would be transferred to initially take responsibility of Bagram Detention Center run by the U.S. army in Parvan province. The process of handing over the detention center in Bagram Airbase, 50 km north of Afghan capital Kabul, began in February 2010, and will be completed by early 2011. Some 840 suspected Taliban fighters, including more than two dozen foreigners, are said to have been held in Bagram detention center. The Afghan Military Police part of the Afghan National Army - will be in charge of securing the facility. Brig. Gen. Safiullah Safi, a battalion commander of the Afghan Military Police, said some 2,000 personnel were needed to guard the building.
