sabit maqsoodGul Maqsood Sabit Gul Maqsod Saqib s/o Abdul Rasool Stanekzai was born in 1973 in Surkhrood District of Nangarhar province. Mr. Sabit completed his primary and secondary education in Peshawar, Pakistan while living there as refugee. He got his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1999 from Berea College of Kentucky, USA. He earned his master degree Public Administration ( Management and Finance ) in 2006 from California State University East Bay of Hayward, California, USA. Mr. Sabit worked as accountant at CitiBank in San Francisco of California, USA for four years. He also worked as a Business Manager at La Honda Unified School District of California, USA for two years.

 

He joined the Ministry of Finance in June, 2006 as Director General of Internal Audit. In addition to the Internal Audit Department, he later worked as Advisor to the Minister of Finance in audit reforms in the country. As head of Internal Audit, Sabit worked closely with the World Bank and Asian Development bank to establish standard accounting practices in the country. Sabit was appointed as Deputy Finance Minister for Revenues and Customs on December 28, 2008.

Pashtany Bank, a historical and well-trusted bank of Afghanistan, needed robust and fast reforms to develop it into a leading bank and well functioning bank. Ministry of Finance, the main shareholder of the bank, therefore decided to appoint Sabit President and Chief Executive Officer of Pashtany Bank on February 18, 2010. Sabit is considered an effective reformist in Afghanistan.
 

Gul Maqsood Sabit has been appointed again as deputy minister of finance for revenue and custom affairs, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced on 20130317. A reshuffle of 34 key top officials, including the deputy minister and heads of some departments, was proposed by the minister and approved by the Presidential Palace.
