3. Biodata:
rabbani_salahuddinSalahuddin Rabbani, son of late Prof. Burhanuddin Rabbani, was born in Kabul, Afghanistan in May 10, 1971. After graduating from high school, he went to Saudi Arabia for higher education. In 1995, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Marketing and Management from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

Salahuddin's first job was in Saudi Arabian Oil Company (ARAMCO) in Dhahran. He worked in ARAMCO's financial accounting department. In 1996 he moved to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. From 1996 to 1998 he worked in the private sector. In 1998 he went to Northern Afghanistan and worked in President’s office as an interpreter and advisor. In June 1999, he went to London for further studies. He applied at Kingston University's Business School in London and received his Master in Business Management degree in 2001. In late 2002, Salahuddin joined the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2003 to 2006 he worked as political counselor at the Permanent Mission of Afghanistan to the United Nations in New York. He represented Afghanistan in the first committee of the United Nations, International security and disarmament. In 2006 he left Foreign Ministry and applied at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) where he received his second Masters' degree in International Affairs. His concentration in SIPA was International Security Policy. In 2008, after graduating from Columbia University, he returned to Afghanistan and worked in Jamiat-e-Islami's political department, as deputy head for political affairs. He also worked as manager of party's television channel, Noor Television. In August 2010 he rejoined Foreign Ministry and in December 2010 he was appointed as Ambassador of Afghanistan to Turkey.

Salahuddin Rabbani, a son of previously killed High Peace Council chairman Prof. Burhanuddin Rabbani, was elected as acting head (20111003)  of Jamiat-e-Islami for two month (Oct. and Nov. 2011) Balkh Governor Atta Mohammad Noor has expressed also an interest in leading Afghanistan's Jamiat-e-Islami party.(20111003)  Salahuddin is the eldest of 10 children.

Salahuddin Rabbani was rumored to be appointed as the Chairman of High Peace Council.(20111221) Later he was appointed Chairman High Peace Council on 20120414.

For the third time the Head of the High Peace Council, Salahuddin Rabbani, abstained from attending the general session of the Lower House of Parliament to brief MPs on the activities of the council.(20121104)
 

Salahuddin Rabbani, the head of the High Peace Council (HPC) has requested for his resignation as chief of the HPC but President Ashraf Ghani rejected his plea to resign, said official on Saturday Nov 22, 2014.The HPC advisor for international affairs, Mohammad Ismail Qasimyar, said Rabbani resigned his position in a bid to pay way for peace talks and revival of peace in the country.(20141122)

Unconfirmed reports suggest that CEO Abdullah has named the Afghan high peace council chief Salahuddin Rabbani as Foreign Affairs Minister.(20141127)

Salahuddin Rabbani has been nominated by the CEO Dr. Abdullah as Foreign Minister. (20150112) Rejected by Wolesi Jirga because of dual citizenship.(20150121) MinistersMinistry of Foreign affairs of Afghanistan (MoF) states that documents confirming the cancellation of dual citizenship of three National Unity Government nominees is confirmed. Noorulhaq Ulumi had a dual citizenship from Holland and Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi and Salahuddin Rabani had dual citizenship of England.(20150124)

From a total of 197 MPs present during Tuesday's Parliament session, 174 voted in favor of reintroducing (as Minister of Foreign Affairs)  Rabbani and 23 voted against.He gave up his dual citizenship. (20150127) Wolesi Jirga confirmed Nominee  for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs  Salahuddin Rabbani with 151 votes, 70 against, 12 blank, and nine invalid.(20150128)

Sources said that Ghani had ordered the Foreign Minister to appoint Nuristani as ambassador to Spain, but later issued a decree to this effect – after his order was not implemented by Rabbani.(20160726)

President Ashraf Ghani has rejected the Wolesi Jirga’s decision regarding sacking of Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani. Expressing grievances over decision of the Wolesi Jirga which disqualified three ministers including Salahuddin Rabbani, Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 20161113 confirmed that the foreign minister to continue work as the ministry would follow orders of the president.(20161113)

Noorullah Emad took charge of the party and announced an end to the leadership of Salahuddin Rabbani being head of Jamiat-i-Islmai (JI) party. Syed Ibrahim Emad, head of JI political office, announced the leadership of Noorullah Emad and added the general assembly of the party would be soon arranged.(20180215)

A number of members of the Jamiat-e-Islami Leadership Council, in a move led by Atta Mohammad Noor, voted in a majority to replace the current leader Salahuddin Rabbani with Enayatullah Shadab, who will now lead the council. Meanwhile, Ahmad Zia Massoud, a member of the Jamiat party, accused Atta Mohammad Noor of making deals with the government and misusing the reputation of the party. (20200703)
 

Head of Afghanistan’s second-largest political part-Jamiat Islami- Salahudin Rabbani reacted to the caretaker government of the Taliban and said that a government which composed of a single ethnic group will not last long. Salahuddin Rabbani has written on his Facebook post that the monopoly of power has been experienced in the past which was defeated and the Taliban with this cabinet will too bite the dust. The former foreign minister is writing the statement from an unknown place as he had fled Afghanistan to Islamabad prior to the Taliban takeover and Pakistani officials say that he has left that country as well. amiat-e-Islami Party, led by Salahuddin Rabbani, in a statement said the cabinet is unbalanced. The statement said “the announcement of the government showed that the Taliban is more monopolist and extremist in politics and power than the previous imposed leaders.”(20210908)
