3. Biodata:
Mrs. Aliya Qazi Zada Qerdesh Qardash Qerdash, daughter of Al-Haj Sufi Muhammad Rahim Qazi Zada, known as Sufi Jan, was born in 1951 to a spiritual family in Andkhoy district of Faryab province. She was the first female student enrolled in a school for girls in Andkhoy. Due the lack of secondary schools for girls in Faryab, she continued her education in Kabul where she studied at Zarghuna High School. She later enrolled in Kabul University where she studied Dari literature and science. While a student, she became the first female Uzbek-language newscaster on RTA. After receiving her diploma in Dari literature, she worked as a teacher in Faryab. In 1976, she returned to Kabul, where she taught at Amina Fedawi High School. She was later promoted to the director of the literature department, a post she held until 1990. Meanwhile, she continued working as an Uzbek-language anchor on RTA. Qardash was awarded several certificates and promotions. In 1991, she visited Uzbekistan, which had just become independent from the Soviet Union. She then lived in Tashkent for several years, where she volunteered as a teacher and served as chairman of an Afghan refugee board. Qardash was appointed to the Meshrano Jirga by the President. She is not affiliated to any political parties. Qerdash is a member and the Deputy Chair of the International Relations Committee 2010.

She is married and has five sons and one daughter.

She speaks Dari, Pashto, English, Uzbeki and Turkmeni.
