Popal_KarimRechtsanwalt (Lawyer) Karim Popal, was born 1957 in Afghanistan. He is said to be a relative to President Hamid Karzai. Popal who is living in Bremen, (Germany) claimes he can proofe, that the number of killed civilians in the German Kunduz September 4, 2009 bombing is 178 plus 20 injured and 20 missing. He wants the German Government to give financial compensation for the human loss of the concerned 78 afghan families. Popal said, that he was two times in Kunduz, but could not travel to the area, where the bombing took place due to security problems. Concerning his research of that case he claimed to have done this from Kunduz City only. Two experts for international damage claims, quit the cooperation with Popal, because he changed his statements several times also concerning the costs of his trips to Afghanistan. Kunduz Governor Omar said, Popal is close to islamic fundamentalists in Afghanistan and a follower of Gulbudin Hekmatyar (20100110).

Popal said 20121228 families of victims of the deadly air strike in Kunduz, Afghanistan that killed more than 90 people in 2009 have filed a multimillion-dollar class-action lawsuit against Germany. Karim Popal, representing the plaintiffs, said the 10 lawsuits were claiming 3.3 million euros ($4.4 million) in damages from the German government. Around 80 people are represented, according to German news agency DPA. A spokesman for a regional court in the western city of Bonn (Germany) told AFP that it had received 10 complaints claiming damages from the German government but declined to provide further details. Popal had already filed class-action lawsuits in 2011 demanding $33,000 per victim and said the plaintiffs were still awaiting a ruling from the same court in Bonn.(20121228)
