Pahlawan_GulGul Muhammad Pahlawan was born in Faizabad district, Faryab province, in 1971. Pahlawan has completed private studies in Islamic madrasas.


Gul Mohammad Pahlavan. is a second tier level Uzbek Militia Commander of Junbesh (Dostum) Human Rights Watch is listing him as a Human Rights Abuser. He was active in Faryab Province. Pahlavan was standing as a candidate for Wolesi Jirga 2010. He is the brother of General Abdul Malik, a commander accused of gross human rights abuses including the execution of 2,000 Taliban prisoners. According to Human Rights Watch, Malik is believed to be responsible for the summary executions of 2,000 Taliban prisoners following a failed coup attempt against warlord General Abdul Rashid Dostam in 1997. He had made a pact with the Taliban to allow them to enter the city but reneged on it when they arrived.

RAWA reported: In June 2010 dozens of people protested in Mazar-i-Sharif against the inclusion of Haji Mohammad Rahim and Gul Mohammad Pahlavan on the list of candidates for the northern provinces of Sar-e Pol and Faryab. Rahim is a former commander of Jamiat-e Islami, another faction involved in the murderous struggle over Kabul after the Soviet withdrawal in 1989. Pahlavan was a leading commander in the Jombesh militia, controlled by former Northern Alliance commander General Abdul Rashid Dostum. Dostum’s forces were responsible for massacring hundreds of Taliban prisoners in Mazar-i-Sharif in 2001.

He was 20101121 delisted from Wolesi Jirga Election 2010 due to fraud. However he will replace sitting Wolesi Jirga MNA MP  Shakir Kargar after a Independent Election Commission Decision 20110821.
