Zulfiqar Omid was born 02. Aug 1979 in Jalalabad, Province Nangahar. Omid is a member of the Office of Administrative Affairs and Council of Ministers’ Secretariat of Islamic Republic Afghanistan, Kabul. This is a unit working under the supervision of the President. Zulfiqar Omid was an advisor to Karzai's 2009 election team.

He is a former member of the National Youth Movement of Afghanistan, the party was established in 1999 in Pakistan and was a member of the National Democratic Front coalition in the Constitutional Loya Jirga. His party is one of the many newer parties based on Western democratic principles. Targeting the unemployed, its primary focus is on providing job opportunities and defending workers' rights. Its internal leadership is intended to be multi-ethnic and chosen through regional jirgas. In early April 2005, the party decided to field twenty parliamentary candidates in eleven provinces. Omid claims the party has national support but admits its base is Kabul. It supported Karzai in 2004.

Zulfiqar Omid is one of the leaders of the Enlightening Movement, a predominantly Hazara protest movement that emerged in protest to the rerouting of TUTAP power line from Bamyan to Salang . He was an unsuccessful parliamentary candidate 2018 from Kabul and 2004 from Daikundi.

Zulfiqar Omid, a Hazara activist and politician, on April 13, 2021 announced the creation of a “resistance front” in the province of Daikundi, in central Afghanistan. In a Facebook post, Omid said the militia had been formed to “fight against injustice and discrimination” and provide security in Daikundi, a relatively peace province that has been recently hit by militant attacks. The fighters are led by Mohammad Ali Sadaqat, a mujahedin-era commander. In photos accompanying his post, Omid is seen walking through a column of militiamen brandishing AK-47 Kalashnikov rifles.(20210415)
