Hundreds of residents of the Farkhar district of Takhar staged a demonstration and called for the removal of Khair Mohammad Temor and Abdul Ali, Police Chief of Farkhar district. The demonstrators asked President Karzai to put the provincial security officials under investigation based on raids in residential areas in the district. However, the provincial police officials rebuffed the claims, saying that police launched a military operation in the district in order track down illegal armed individuals.(20121231)
