Hijjatullah Hojatullah Mujaddedi is the son of Al Haj Muhammad Ishaq Mujaddedi, who is also the head of the Kapisa Appellant Court. Mujadeddi is a senior freelance reporter for Pajhwok Afghan News, Reporters Without Borders and other media outlets. He was arrested by intelligence operatives in central Kapisa province He was detained by National Directorate of Security (NDS) agents 20100918 when he was covering the election in Mahmood Raqi.

Kapisa Information and Culture Director Abdul Aleem Shafaq also flayed the arrest, saying he should have been informed. "As director of information, I should have been taken into confidence prior to Mujaddedi's detention." In the recent weeks before the elections powerful individuals with links to the government had been pressurising journalists in Kabul and three other northern provinces. Restrictions had been imposed on activities of journalists in the areas. ISAF said in a statement Hojatullah Mujadded had been freed (20100924) by Afghan authorities, which was not true. A court of appeal in Kabul ordered his release and after four month detention he was set free on 20110126. The National Directorate of Security (NDS), spokesman, Lotfullah Mashal, said Mujaddedi had been arrested on the charge of abetting a suicide attacker (20110125).
